Earth Shoes Review: 1 to 2 Years Later (Spring/summer Edition)
I’ve had a longstanding partnership with Earth since the spring of 2015—which was now five years ago, if you can believe it (I can hardly believe it myself). My partnership involves styling pairs of shoes from their seasonal collections in outfits! I absolutely love and appreciate the opportunity to work with Earth for so many years. Since I receive a couple of new pairs each season, my collection has grown quite a bit! This post is a more in-depth review of the shoes I received in spring 2018 and 2019 (I did not include the shoes I got this year since I just got them!). I also wrote an in-depth review of the shoes I received in spring 2015, 2016, and 2017 back in 2018. I still own all of those pairs, too!
This post was not written in collaboration with Earth; I wrote honestly about how the shoes have held up over time and how I've worn each pair! As usual, you can go straight to the original outfit post if you click on one of the photos below.
Earth Tierra • 2018 (2 years later)
I selected the Tierra strappy sandals primarily because I thought they would be the perfect neutral shoe to take me through multiple springs and summers. The colorway I chose is a combination of light grey, light taupe, and shimmery grey. I’m typically not one to mix my greys and taupes, but the colors are light enough that it doesn’t bother me as much.
The colors definitely lean blue/grey to me, so I’ve been wearing them with lots of greys, black, white, and denim. They work equally as well with jeans as they do with skirts and dresses. They’re definitely not a delicate shoe, but they are suede so they call for a little extra care (no wearing when it’s raining!).
To be honest, I’ve struggled styling these shoes more than I thought I would. I’ve had them for two years and have worn them only nine times (blogged six times). The original retail price was $115, so the cost per wear is down to $12.77.
One thing I cannot complain about is the comfort level. These sandals totally wrap my feet in comfort and keep them in place when I walk. The interior of the straps is soft and doesn’t rub. It’s basically as close to walking on a cloud as you can get, I’d imagine (and I’ve always wished I could walk on a cloud!).
Earth Ibiza • 2018 (2 years later)
Spring 2018 was the season of sandals, and the second pair of shoes I selected was a little bit out of my comfort zone at the time: slides! Admittedly, I hadn’t been a big fan of the slide trend from afar, but I have since realized how easy they are to wear. As I anticipated, the tan color goes very well with the rest of my closet.
Since the Ibiza slide sandals are so easy to wear, I found myself throwing them on with many different outfits and have featured them here on the blog in nine outfits so far (and have worn them 17 times per my Stylebook app). The original retail price was $110, so their cost per wear is down to $6.47.
Even though I have worn these shoes so many times since they’re easy to through on and go, I haven’t been a huge fan of some of the looks I put together with them. The slide takes up a lot of foot area, so I found that I prefer them with pant outfits. I’m not a huge fan of how they look with skirts and shorts, but I don’t really know why I feel that way, haha.
As with some sandals, if I walk too briskly while wearing these slides, I can accidentally walk out of them. But, as with all my other pairs of Earth shoes, they’re very comfortable (they feature arch support!).
Earth Cedarwood • 2019 (1 year later)
Casual white sneakers were something I did not own until I selected the Cedarwood sneakers as part of my partnership with Earth last spring. I had always wanted a pair but was nervous about white shoes—I figured I’d stain them!
So far, I haven’t stained the white leather, but I’ve also only worn them four times (blogged in two outfits). It’s truly a miracle that I didn’t stain them when shooting the fall outfit below; I walked through grass that was covered in goose poop and I didn’t realize it until the only way out was to go through. Yikes! 🙈
With an original retail price of $120, the cost per wear is down to $30. I certainly expected to wear them more than I have, but I did baby them because they’re white. They’re also a little bit big on my feet. The silver backs are very flexible and can be folded down to make mules, but the flexibility is also why they’re loose on my feet.
There are a couple of other things that irritate me when I wear them: they squeak sometimes and the shoelaces bounce around and make a lot of noise when I walk. I never thought that shoelaces making noise was a thing! The pair of white Vapor sneakers that I selected as part of my partnership this spring have been working out much better for me so far.
Earth Chestnut • 2019 (1 year later)
I knew immediately that I wanted the Chestnut platform sandals in my life. I didn’t think I was one for the clog-style shoe, but I was drawn to these and have not been disappointed. I selected these sandals in black as a replacement for an old Steve Madden pair.
Even though the heel on these is quite high, the platform alleviates the height, and I’ve found them to be easy to walk in all things considered. The wooden heel lends itself to more casual looks, but I often feel dressy when I wear them.
I’m actually surprised that I only blogged these in six outfits; it felt like I wore these shoes so much! (This is another reason why I love the Stylebook app so much—it serves reality checks. I used to think I wore my clothes all the time when in reality, I only wore something a few times over a few-month period.)
I have worn them seven times so far, and with the original retail price of $145, that makes the cost per wear down to $20.71. I’m hoping that I’ll have more opportunities to wear them this summer and get that cost per wear down more.
I love these so much that I was tempted to buy them in the gorgeous terra cotta color, but that color has since sold out in my size!
